The time has come to think about a summer camp for your children; indeed, it is usually in February or March that registration begins for most of Canada's summer camps. The ''open houses'' allow parents to get a good overview of the activities offered by the camp and to ask any questions concerning the daily programming, supervision of the children, etc.   Variety of benefits           The University of Waterloo in Ontario recently published research on the benefits to children of attending summer camp. Here is a summary: Social Development: children will create new friendships and experience an enhanced sense of belonging. Emotional intelligence: children further develop their ability to recognize emotions. Autonomy and self-confidence: These two qualities are also increased. Environmental Awareness: Children are more likely to understand the importance of nature. Physical activity: children become more active by the end of their stay at the camp. Of course, we can also add the benefits of learning or developing a second or third language, gaining a deeper understanding of school subjects, discovering new cultures, trying a new sport, etc. For more information about the camps: http://camps.qc.ca/en/parents-et-enfants/accueil Find a camp How to choose a summer camp depends on the goals of the parents and child.
